Who we need

Reporting to the Managing Director, Capital and Corporate Development, we are hiring an Investment Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with investment professionals, entrepreneurs, operators, and technologists to drive growth for R-LABS and our venture companies. You will help maintain and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including Industry and Limited Partners (LPs), while also expanding our ecosystem building new partnerships to support the creation of innovative companies addressing challenges in the real estate sector.

This is an in-office position based in downtown Toronto.

What you will do:

Foster relationships with current and potential Limited Partners (LPs). You will build and strengthen relationships with current R-LABS Limited Partners, including institutional investors and corporations, to identify their specific needs and opportunities. Additionally, you will engage with potential LPs, such as angel investors, venture capital firms, banks, and industry leaders to broaden our capital-raising efforts.
Manage partnerships with key service providers. You will oversee relationships with internal and external service providers, including lawyers, consultants, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration both pre- and post-investment.
Manage ongoing and future capital and corporate development activity. You will work closely with leadership to support our existing venture companies in developing and executing their capital-raising strategies. You will contribute to capital raising efforts by sourcing new deals, preparing presentations and investment memos, and conducting due diligence and valuation analysis. You will also actively project manage ongoing and future capital and corporate development activities across R-LABS, tracking and reporting progress to the broader team.
Expand and share knowledge. You will develop a deep understanding of the real estate technology sector and the Canadian and global capital and innovation landscape. You will approach capital raising and corporate development with evidence-based learning. You will guide and direct management teams on the preparation of investor relations marketing collateral, including pitch presentations, investment opportunity material, and business plan projections.

What you bring:

The experience. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and are motivated by a desire to make an impact. You have experience in capital raising and corporate development functions and are comfortable speaking fluently on investment related topics, including different structures and mechanisms. You are adept at creating powerful narratives, evaluating and valuing business models, and financial modelling. Ideally, you have held a similar role at a venture capital, private equity, investment banking or consulting firm. You have an interest in the real estate industry.
The initiative. You are naturally curious and resourceful at research. You can find, access, and reach out to key stakeholders to create needed connections. You are a proven collaborator and flexible member of interdisciplinary cross-functional teams with the motivation to take on whatever task needs doing, to contribute wherever you are needed and to support the work of others. Yet, you are also comfortable and disciplined enough to operate with a high degree of autonomy.
The interpersonal skills. You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and you can influence without authority to achieve results.
